Color of the Year 2022: Tikkurila Brown

Tikkurila, a leading Finnish manufacturer of paints and varnishes, has named its 2022 color of the year. Softness, calmness and strength are intended to convey the color L47Kestrel – warm brown with a hint of cold red.

The main color of 2022 is named after the falcon, as it is a migratory bird that always returns home. In this shade, Tikkurila combines home comfort and warmth with exciting moments of travel. After all, our memories and experiences, including those gained on trips, inspire us and leave an imprint on how we decorate our living space.

“In the last two years, we have been spending more time at home. When you stay in one place for a long time, your favorite things get bored and, moreover, wear out faster. That’s why we just need to look at our interior in a new way, says Irina Khanhisalo, Tikkurila color expert. “With the Colors of the Year 2022, Tikkurila expresses a positive outlook on life and inspires everyone to transform the reality around them.”

Reimagined as a familiar classic shade, Kestrel has become the centerpiece of the 2022 color palette. It includes natural shades – sea waves, golden sand, pebbles, clouds. The collection was created to show how color can change the environment and set the mood, to help find inspiration, even when the days are monotonous and most of them are spent at home. This is all part of the Color Now initiative, an annual Tikkurila project launched in 2016. It aims to identify and promote color trends, expand creative ideas and teaching.
