British paint manufacturer Farrow & Ball has released a collection called California – eight fresh, sun-soaked colors from American designer Kelly Wearstler. The debut collaboration marks the first palette created by a guest designer since the company’s founding in 1946.
Kelly Wearstler’s love of color has been a hallmark of her career, and she has been using Farrow & Ball paints in her designs for over two decades. The collection is based on Kelly Wearstler’s belief that colors found in nature resonate with us on a visceral level, providing a sense of serenity and a sense of belonging to the environment.
When creating the palette, Wearstler was inspired by the waves of the Pacific Ocean and the California landscape. “I always say that living without color is like living without love. Color is the spirit of a room, giving the expressive power to transform a space through your voice, whether you paint all the walls or just one.”
The California collection offers endless combinations to create a dynamic look. It consists of 132 carefully selected shades. Each can of water-based paint is environmentally friendly, low VOC. Kelly highlighted the earthy tone of Citrona, the dreamy muted blue-gray Hazy or the casually warm Faded Terracotta. In keeping with Wearstler’s belief that “black and white are colors too,” the palette includes neutral shades of sand and salt.
