Eindhoven Academy graduate Santa Kupča presents “Stuck-at-Home Masquerade,” a collection embodying the masquerade of a man confined. A fusion of clothing and bedding, ensuring comfort for home video calls in isolation while impressing your audience.
Three pillows-turned-clothing items represent aspects of staying home, illustrating the diverse experiences of forced confinement. Santa Kupcha named these situations ( or « chapters » ) « Unconfident in RSVP », Dolce Far Niente ( « beautiful doing nothing » ), and « Public. Each item looks like a super-long A-Silhouet dress. They are distinguished by a taffing pattern resembling a duvet.
« Pandemic and isolation greatly influenced my graduation project — endless conversations on screens and in Zoom became commonplace, and this confused me: it worked out, that I am in some intermediate space — not quite at home. I was often visited by the desire to see how I look on the screen when talking with others, and whether the background and the light around me are good enough. The desire to stage the space around you was the starting point of this collection. However, I understand that this is more of a fashionable poetry or fashionable diary than a real fashion ».
