The Italian architecture and design studio biro+ has redesigned a 70 sq. meters in the city of Acquaviva delle Fonti, Apulia region. The authors identified three functional zones in the interior within a single space. The entrance hall, kitchen and living room were formed using stationary and mobile furniture structures.
Three “islands” organize the room – a partition that separates the dining room from the hallway, a square kitchen block for cooking and a shelving unit in the living room. Furniture structures are made of steel and wood. A slender row of kitchen cabinets hides the door to the private space of the apartment with bedrooms and a bathroom.
The authors paid special attention to lighting scenarios – all ceiling lights were removed, they were replaced by spot elements in different functional areas. In the dining room, the Lampe de Marseille lamp by Nemo, the founder of modernism Le Corbusier, the Taccia table lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in the fireplace area and the Parentesi pendant lamp by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzu in the living room, both from the Italian brand Flos, attract attention.
