The Italian brand Cassina revives masterpieces of artistic excellence of the 20th century. Among the additions to the Cassina I Maestri Collection are wooden screens created according to the drawings of Turinian Giacomo Balla. The artist, son of a photographer, art teacher and poet Giacomo Balla (1871–1958) was a representative of the first wave of Futurist art, from whose work Boccioni and Severini learned. The works of Giacomo Balla are an attempt to convey dynamics, to capture the essence of movement.
His paintings are lyrical, full of light and rhythm. Unlike other leading futurists, he was not interested in machines or violence, and his work tended towards the witty and whimsical. In 1914, he began designing futuristic furniture, and so-called futuristic “anti-neutral” clothing.
The screens consist of three panels of different heights and widths, connected by brushed brass hinges specially designed by Cassina. The decor is made using silk-screen printing on both sides. Each screen is signed and serial numbered to ensure the authenticity of the product.
