Russian designer Alexei Danilin received 2 Red Dot Design Awards in 2023 for developing the Twins light system and the Hourglass transformer lamp.
“These concepts aim to create comfortable lighting, prioritizing functionality and originality over decorativeness,” explains Alexei Danilin. “The visual language of Twins lamps was crafted based on minimalism, thoughtful engineering solutions, and a simple elegant image.”
The image of the ball was taken as the basis. It is a symbol of our planet, the sun, and one of the most bewitching forms for man. A hexagonal metal base houses the concealed LED tape behind a matte ball, and the mini-driver discreetly sits at the lamp’s base, allowing the creation of a minimalist object free from visual noise.
The collection can infinitely expand, taking the form of suspended lamps, light systems, sconces, and various other options. There are also options with a replaceable lamp and driver located in a glass ball. Twins makes it possible to use a Wi-Fi light control system, and adjust the luminous flux and color temperature. This allows you to create an infinite number of light scripts with different functionality and decorative effects.
Hourglass is a series of suspended lamps with the ability to adjust brightness. A glazed glass plafon with a gradient from transparent to white makes it easy to change its position and redirect the luminous flux. The lamp shape resembles an hourglass — time transient symbol, — adds a designer. — In this case, the lamp is very durable. Made of plastic with IP protection and a regular replaceable lamp, it can last for decades, and its minimalist design remains timeless.
