Discover a unique blend of art and design in the latest collection by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconselos for the renowned French brand Roche Bobois. This collection features two modular sculptural sofas, reminiscent of paintings and carpets, accompanied by six picturesque pillows.
Vasconselos shares her inspiration, emphasizing the emotional and instinctive design that forms the basis of this collection. Nicolas Roche, the Artistic Director of Roche Bobois, recounts the collaboration’s origin, sparked when Vasconselos encountered Roche Bobois’ iconic Mah Jong sofa in a Lisbon store.
The collection’s focal point is the cult Mah Jong sofa, reimagined alongside five other existing models. Vasconselos embraced the challenge, infusing her distinctive motifs and colors into the designs. The resulting Bombom sofas showcase organic forms and a smooth configuration with mobile independent backs.
Vasconselos aimed to create upholstered furniture, carpets, and accessories that are not only visually appealing but also invite interaction. The Bombom sofas boast energetic and fresh color combinations, enhanced by bold contrasts, reflecting Vasconselos’ signature style.
The collection extends to carpets named Isis, Perdição, and Sinapse, infused with the energy of lines, shapes, and vibrant colors. Complementing the ensemble, a series of pillows feature original drawings by the artist, printed and embroidered on white or black backgrounds. Choose from three sizes and six unique pillow models to add a touch of Vasconselos’ artistry to your space.
Immerse yourself in the delightful world where art meets functionality, as Joana Vasconselos and Roche Bobois redefine the boundaries between furniture and artistic expression.
