Explore the mesmerizing collaboration between British designer Laura Wood and renowned Italian companies, Cassina and Venini, resulting in the captivating Colourdisc collection. This unique series of vases and bowls showcases Wood’s exceptional color vision, accentuated by the distinctive Murano glass details.
Named Colourdisc for the parts crafted by Venini, these transparent colored glass discs harmoniously blend with brass elements, resembling fine porcelain. The cast glass discs, arranged around the brass volume, create a celestial constellation effect, with reflections dancing on the brass surface when illuminated.
The graphic dialogue between the colored compositions and the brass volume adds an artistic dimension. The option to insert an additional vase of tattered amber or blue glass enhances the object’s color palette and simplifies the process of filling it with water for floral arrangements.
Each decorative glass form combines two colors from the Venini archive, creating a unique third shade. Emphasizing the contents of the vase, these colored lenses also provide a distinct frame for the arrangement. The glass parts are ingeniously secured with brass pins, reminiscent of the abstract form of 1960s disc chandeliers and the construction of the Olimpino Iko Parisi table.
The Colourdisc collection represents a special collaboration experience between Laura Wood, Venini, and Cassina. For Cassina, it marks the exploration of a new direction in furniture design, while for Venini, it symbolizes the natural evolution that merges traditions with innovations.
