The Anvil Gallery opens a new exhibition project focused on the gaming industry. The name refers to the popular criticism of games that have become a full-fledged part of visual culture and art, but are perceived by many as literally “a waste of time.” The artists working with the theme invite the viewers to dialogue so that everyone can express their pros and cons.
The exposition presents the works of Russian authors, which are made under the influence of computer games, but created using traditional rather than digital techniques: Dima Gorbunov, Alexander Krylov, Inna Kryzhanovskaya, Anton and Artem Matveev, Hassan Mustafin, Mikhail Rubankov, Anya Feldman. The exhibition also assumes the presence of an interactive part: the gallery will temporarily turn into a gaming club where you can get acquainted with cult stories.
The Waste of Time project was announced during Archstoyanie 2023: a number of works from the future exposition were shown in the “gaming hayloft” — a pavilion designed for the gallery by the architectural bureau Utro.
