The Moscow Museum of Modern Art, as part of the Young Art Support Program, is opening an exhibition by the artist Daria Barybina “The Witness”. The project is a series of nine works, which are united by the theme of intense expectation, excitement, lack of certainty.
There are no heroes in Daria’s paintings – only artifacts of everyday life, such as forgotten shoes, tell about them. Still lifes and landscapes devoid of characters, evidence of urban life, may remind of Hopper’s canvases, where the figures seem to be only an appendix to the scene captured in the moment, or the desert metaphysical landscapes of de Chirico, but with objects and views much more familiar to visitors. The clue lies in the mind of the viewer – any interpretation created by the imagination can be correct.
